Life at Redeemer:

Our Hope:

When asked how to inherit eternal life, Jesus responded by saying that “you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself”. He said that the entirety of the Old Testament hung on these two commands. In other words, faithfulness in the Kingdom of God means that (1) we love and worship God, and (2) we love and serve whoever we meet. This is what it means to share in the life of Jesus.

At Redeemer Fellowship, we believe that it is our God given mission to live out these commands in a way that shows the Jersey Shore the beauty of who God is and what he’s like. At Redeemer Fellowship, our hope is that we would be a people who share in the life of Christ by loving God and loving neighbor.

How We Live This Out:

To share in the life of Christ by loving God and loving neighbor is to be a disciple of Jesus, and it is the job of the local church to make disciples. At Redeemer Fellowship, we do that through:

  1. Responsible and committed membership, where we encourage and challenge one another toward faithfulness, as we seek to follow Jesus corporately along the Jersey Shore.
  2. Sunday morning services, where we meet with the Lord together, to worship him through music, the teaching and preaching of the Word, and the Lord’s Supper.
  3. Community groups, where vital relationships are cultivated for the purpose of fellowship, accountability, encouragement and local neighborhood engagement.
  4. Redeemer School of Ministry and Theology, where we come together to formally study the Scriptures and Theology, for the purpose of being able to live out our faith thoughtfully and contextually here on the Jersey Shore.

In addition to these four streams of discipleship, Redeemer Fellowship believes that for the church to flourish, we need to care for and train our children. We are committed to coming alongside families through both Redeemer Kids and Redeemer Youth, to serve our young people, that they too would share in the life of Christ by loving God and loving neighbor.

Teaching and Theology:

Redeemer Fellowship stands in a long line of Christian tradition dating back over 2000 years to the life and teachings of Jesus, the Apostles and New Testament writers, and the early Christian creeds and confessions. At Redeemer, we willingly submit ourselves to teachings contained within the 66 books of the Old and New Testament, and believe that they are the self-attesting inspired and authoritative word of God, delivered to the church through the organic union of divine and human authorship, with the purpose of revealing God and the good news of his redemption.

Following in the footsteps of the Reformed tradition, we believe in the centrality of the Gospel, a message of good news birthed in actual historic events, divinely orchestrated and decreed by God, as well as the very power of God to bring about the salvation of his people through the person and work of Christ. The events recorded in both the Old and New Testaments reveal the story of God as creator, redeemer and king. Those of us who submit to God through faith and trust in Christ are forgiven of sin and brought into union with him, receiving by grace, his adoption, justification, sanctification and glorification. We are in turn, incorporated into the body of Christ and equipped, through the power of the Holy Spirit, for the mission of God, to share in the life of Christ, by loving God and loving neighbor through both word and deed, showing the world, and specifically the Jersey Shore, what God is like.
