Engage Yourselves:
Describe a time where God took suffering and difficulty in your life and used it for good? What was that like for you?
There are certain elements of both the Samaritans and Eunuchs that would seemingly prevent them from being a part of God’s family. Are there people or groups of people who you feel should be kept outside of the fold? Why do you feel that way? Do you sometimes feel unqualified to be a part of God’s family? Why?
Engage the Text:
What stands out to you most in this passage? Why?
Read Isaiah 56:3-8. What is the Lord promising in this passage, and how does it relate to our passage?
Engage your Neighbor:
This passage shows the beginning of the Great Commission being fulfilled. In what ways can you play a role in the great commission, within your own family, neighborhood, place of work?
Engage your Family:
Ask your children or help them recall a time when something bad ended up leading to something good. Use this as an opportunity to teach them that all good gifts are from God, and that he cares deeply for his children (cf. James 1:17).
