The Straight Paths of the Lord

May 23, 2021 Speaker: Jonathan Sgalambro Series: Faithful Witnesses: A Study in the Book of Acts

Topic: Faithfulness Scripture: Acts 13:1–12

Community Group Questions:

Engage Yourselves:

What stood out most to you from this week’s sermon and/or passage? Why is that?

In what ways do worship, prayer and fasting play a role in your life, when it comes to decision making, in your relationships (family, friends and neighbors), etc.?

Engage the Text:

Read v.v. 9 and 10. What about Paul’s response is shocking to you? Does he go to far? Why or why not?

Based on the reading of this passage, and what we discussed on Sunday, what does Luke want us to know about the character of God?

Engage your Neighbor:

The proconsul is described as being “a man of intelligence”. Does sharing your faith with intelligent people intimidate you? Why? If not, where do you draw your confidence from?

Verse 12 shows that the proconsul believed after seeing something and hearing something. How can you show your neighbors Jesus while also telling them about him?

Engage your Family:

Speak with your children about how God’s power and authority is bigger than any sort of “magic” or power that they might be frightened of.
