I Press On

Speaker: Jonathan Sgalambro Series: Citizens of Heaven: A Study in Philippians Topic: Faithfulness, Heavenly Citizenship Scripture: Philippians 3:12–16

Community Group Questions:

Engage Yourself (Both of these questions are paraphrased from pastor and author, John Mark Comer):

What do you need to forget or move on from that is hindering your walk with Jesus?

What are the things that distract you from running the race with focus and intentionality? How can you fight against those distractions?

Engage the Text:

Verse 15 encourages us to “think this way”. Where else in Philippians does the idea of thinking and our mind show up? How might this relate to the sort of thinking that Paul is encouraging here?

Verse 15 also says that there are those who will choose not to think as Paul commands. What is it about Paul’s posture toward them that might serve as a challenge for us, both with fellow brothers and sisters, and those outside the body of Christ?

Engage your Neighbor:

Straining toward the goal carries the idea about how we use our time here on earth, as followers of Jesus. In what ways are you using your time, particularly as it relates to how you love your neighbors?
