Engage the Text:
In verse 4, Paul commands his readers to “rejoice” or “celebrate”. What is most challenging about this command, especially when we remember where Paul is when he writes it?
In verse 7, Paul talks about “the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding”. Where have you experienced this in your own life, and when have you noticed it lacking? What sort of things marked your life during both seasons?
Engage your Neighbor:
Paul challenges two women, both of whom are followers of Jesus, “to agree in the Lord”. Are there brothers or sisters in your own life with whom you are at odds? What can you do to move toward them in grace and in forgiveness?
